C4 Change Management Study

The representative study “Success in Change - a Representative Survey on Success and Failure in Managing Change” is the first full scale survey to have been completed in large German companies on Change Management.

The nationwide survey on change management among managers showed: in the majority of large German companies, the complete success of change processes is the exception (overall likelihood is below 21%). More than one in every three change processes in German companies is viewed either as having failed or achieving little overall success. Just one fifth of employees, roughly 19%, actively support change processes, the number of employees opposing them being twice as big (45%).

So why are completely successful change processes the exception?

Our study showed:
The more comprehensive and wide-ranging the change processes are, the more frequently they lead to success.

C4 Studie neuThe study showed that three factors are essential for the success of the change initiatives: motivation, orientation and congruence. Congruence considers the overall nature and the systemic character of change: to what extent are adjustment measures incorporated in the change process? Are hard and soft factors considered and aligned consistently with the target state?
